1. Who We Are

WedMap is operated by WeddingMap ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our wedding planning platform.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use WedMap:

  • Account information: name, email address, and password (hashed)
  • Wedding planning data: wedding details, event information, guest names and contact details, budget and vendor information
  • Authentication data: Google account information if you sign in with Google (name and email only)
  • Usage data: basic server logs for security and debugging purposes
  • Website analytics data: the pages you visit, how you arrived at WedMap, your browser and device type, and your approximate location derived from your IP address, collected through Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel (see sections 5 and 7)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to:

  • Provide and maintain the WedMap service
  • Authenticate your identity and secure your account
  • Send transactional emails (verification, password reset, payment reminders)
  • Respond to support requests you submit
  • Understand how people use our website so we can improve it (Google Analytics)
  • Measure how well our advertising on Facebook and Instagram works (Meta Pixel)

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We do not share your wedding planning data or your guests' information with advertising or analytics providers.

Google Analytics receives the website analytics data described in section 2. The Meta Pixel receives the same data and may also receive details you type into our sign-up and login forms, such as your name and email address, in hashed (scrambled) form. If you have a Facebook or Instagram account, Meta may use this to link your visits to WedMap with that account and to measure and improve ads, as described in Meta's own privacy policy.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Google Cloud Platform infrastructure. We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Hashed passwords (bcrypt)
  • Secure secret management for credentials
  • Access controls limiting who can access production systems

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate WedMap:

  • Google Cloud Platform: hosting, database, and infrastructure
  • Google OAuth: optional sign-in with Google
  • Gmail SMTP: sending transactional emails
  • Google Sheets: keeping an internal record of new sign-ups (name, email, wedding date, and country)
  • Stripe: processing payments for Premium upgrades. Card details are entered on Stripe's own checkout page and never reach our servers.
  • Google Analytics: measuring how our website is used
  • Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms): measuring the effectiveness of our ads on Facebook and Instagram

These services have their own privacy policies. We only share the minimum data required for each service to function.

6. Guest Data

When you add guests to your wedding, you may enter their names, contact details, and RSVP status. This data is stored within your account and is only accessible to you. We do not contact your guests or use their information for any purpose other than displaying it to you within the Service.

7. Cookies and Similar Technologies

WedMap keeps you signed in by storing your session in your browser's local storage. We also use the following third-party cookies:

  • Google Analytics (_ga, _ga_*): distinguish visitors and visits so we can measure how WedMap is used. These last up to 2 years.
  • Meta Pixel (_fbp): lets Meta measure how our ads perform. This lasts 90 days.

You can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings without affecting your use of WedMap. You can also opt out of Google Analytics on every website with Google's opt-out browser add-on, and manage how Meta uses your activity for ads in your Facebook or Instagram settings.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: view all personal data we hold about you
  • Correction: update or correct your personal information
  • Deletion: request deletion of your account and all associated data
  • Export: download your data (guest lists are exportable from the app)

To exercise any of these rights, contact us through our Help & Support page.

9. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete all your personal data and wedding planning data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it.

10. Children's Privacy

WedMap is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. The "last updated" date at the top indicates when the policy was last revised.

12. Contact
